Jennifer Day - For me, reading this book crystallized many of the concepts that underpin NextStage technology, and I feel like I am better able to articulate its promise. As I read, a foundation was built - barely perceptible - it wasn't just a string of "aha moments"; it was more like pieces falling into place and gaps being filled. Clearly if you've ever wondered what the technology is all about or how it came to be, this book is for you. However, it's perfectly obvious that this book is a must-read for anybody who has heard Joseph speak about the NextStage technology over the years. What is less obvious, perhaps, is that this is not a book only for web analysts or other web technologists. I believe this book will appeal also to anyone fascinated by human behavior, invention, science, and technology. If you happen to be a web analyst who also happens to be fascinated by those things, congratulations: you have found your ideal weekend reading. I very much look forward to the next volume.

But most importantly, it doesn't come just with theory but rather with practical example of how you applied the theory. ... Web can be made a better place for its "visitors" and approaches like yours can really make a difference. ... Clarissa Sawyer, PhD - I read this as someone who is a novice user of social media. Ok, I have a web-site, and use LinkedIn and Facebook, and just began writing for a blog that Joseph writes for, too. But I still say I'm a novice. Why? My simple web-site went up 15 months ago, I started using LinkedIn 12 months ago, and 9 months ago I became a some-time user of FaceBook with a few close family and friends. Until I met Joseph and heard him give a presentation on social media, even though I used these tools, I really didn't understand their power to connect people to each other (and here's the good part) to me. Intrigued, I decided to buy his book and read it. I was surprised, unnerved actually, to learn how much can be inferred about me from my on-line presence using text choices, images, language, even interaction patterns (such as where I point and click on the screen and for how long). Having a background in psychology and organizational behavior, I was familar with the idea that humans are interpreters and creators of symbolic communication. My effectiveness as a consultant, researcher, and teacher, depends on me being able to be a good reader of people. What I didn't realze until I read this book was how well my mind could be read "virtually." An excellent, easy to read, and fascinating introduction to this topic by a noted expert.
