NSE Evolution Technology Research Paper - A Modality Engineering Primer
23 pages, 7 images, 7 graphs, 106 references
Introduction: Modality Engineering is a relatively young discipline which has its roots in mathematical linguistics, anthrolingualsemiotics, neurolinguistics and neurophysics. The term Modality Engineering describes the mixture of two scientific paradigms. One, engineering, is a traditionally "hard" science in the sense that engineering involves rigorous mathematical trainings and proofs, and is expressed by the willful or intentional intervention of humankind on nature. The other, modality, is a traditionally "soft" science term and deals with how individuals interact with information on an individual level. The combination of these terms, Modality Engineering, is therefore descriptive of a mathematical rigor applied to the intentional and willful intervention of the user on how individuals will interact with information.
The purpose of this paper is to explain some of the key concepts of Modality Engineering and give examples of its use in order to provide a foundation for the discipline. The mathematics of modality engineering is straightforward and readers with a common arithmetic background will be able to follow easily. Some more advanced features of modality engineering require some elementary calculus and trigonometry. The most advanced features require a knowledge of solid probabilities and concept spaces.37 While these understandings can be had in most high school through college math text books, the growth of modalities and modality mathematics stems from semiotics and language and that can be a more interesting path to follow. This offered, the following section is intended to bring the reader to a clearer understanding of how modalities function and to give examples of modalities and operations on them using NextStage's Evolution Technology and its Language Engines.

NSE Evolution Technology Research Paper - Evaluation of Individuals as Cognitive Systems (Situational Awareness and Cognitive Readiness)
13 pages, 4 charts, 12 references
Abstract - The current state of the art in evaluating individuals as cognitive systems is the lack of any method with which to identify and mathematically formalize the impact, both positively and negatively, of new technologies on an individual's cognitive readiness and physical performance. It is understood that a critical component of an individual's response to new information technologies and methods must be the ability to quickly understand, internalize and act upon the information being presented. In this scenario, the individual is the self-realizing "external event" of a complex system wherein the individual is a combination of information assimilator, recognition sequencer, system diagnostic, decision algorithm, final processing unit, and much more. Typically, these abilities come under the co-headings of Situational Awareness (SA) and Cognitive Readiness (CR) and are defined as the individual's ability to quickly perceive and then discriminate between facets of the tactile environment, to accurately assess and reassess the where, when and why of that environment, and to know and understand the nature of the tactical situation in order to extrapolate near term courses of action based on this understanding.
NextStage Evolution believes it can directly address the deficiencies in the current state of the art and "raise the bar" significantly via its proprietary, patent-pending Evolution Technology. Evolution Technology is comprised of a series of "engines" which have the ability to determine an individual's immediate psychological and cognitive states (learning styles, memorization methods, attentiveness, levels of interest, frustration levels, predatory behavior, reactions to information, level(s) of awareness, native intelligence, etc). Evolution Technology does this by monitoring non-conscious psycho- and cognitive-motor behaviors during real-time activities and can be adapted to any human-machine interface utilizing the existing machine architecture. No additional hardware is required, although certain human-machine interfaces limit the diversity but not the quality of the information gathered.

NSE Evolution Technology Research Paper - Evolution Technology and Leadership Self-Development Training
12 pages, 4 charts, 31 references
The Problem Defined: The objective of most self-development programs is "...to design, develop and evaluate a leader self-development support program that recognizes the importance of self-insight and incorporates the cognitive and motivational components underlying the process of leader self-awareness." Undetailed in this objective are the requirements of determining an individual's learning styles, memorization methods, attentiveness to material, reactions to information and much more. Evolution Technology determines and reports both individual and group learning styles, memorization methods, attentiveness to material and reactions to information by monitoring non-conscious psycho- and cognitive-motor behaviors during real-time activities and can be adapted to any human-machine interface utilizing the existing machine architecture. No additional hardware is required. For the purposes of this proposal, our discussion centers on computerized, web based or stand-alone training and learning modules.

NSE Evolution Technology Research Paper - Evolution Technology as an Adjunct to Decision Support Systems
8 pages, 19 references
Abstract: Decision Support Systems (DSS) function by providing a user or users with relevant and necessary information regarding a given situation and a proven decision tree for utilizing that information to solve a problem defined by the system. What has been missing from DSS is a way to present the information in an easily and readily processed format to the user. Evolution Technology monitors non-conscious psycho-dynamic and -motor cues from the user to determine best presentation formats based on a predetermined, externally rule set provided by the DSS designers.

NSE Evolution Technology Research Paper - Evolution Technology as an Adjunct to Homeland Defense and Security
6 pages, 6 charts, 5 References
Abstract: Homeland Defense and Security requires the abilities to detect and prevent events which threaten the safety and well-being of the American population. Detection is in itself a strong method of prevention, especially if the detection method is simple, affordable, and ubiquitous. Evolution Technology is such a detection method.3,4 Evolution Technology monitors human-machine interaction in real-time and makes intelligent conclusions about the human user based on those interactions. This paper details one such application and discusses several others.

NSE Evolution Technology Research Paper - Evolution Technology as an Adjunct to eCommerce Systems
8 pages, 10 references
Introduction: This paper deals with NextStage Evolution's Real-time Site-Modification (SMS) product. Self-modifying sites are what now might be called "morphing" sites and the term invalidates the concept of Turing machines hence is not used here. A site, like a person, should modify its behavior based on who it's communicating with. People (and true Turing machines) routinely modify their behaviors based on whom they're communicating with, but only the psychotics "morph", ie, become a completely different being.5,6 This paper elaborates on uses for NextStage's Evolution Technology and NextStage's SMS product as part of an integrated eCommerce package. The function of NextStage's SMS is to provide Active Selling, a core element in the science of selling and something presently recognized as the web's missing link.

NSE Evolution Technology Research Paper - Machine Detection of Website Visitor Age and Gender via Analysis of Psychomotor Behavioral Cues
34 pages, 2 charts, 7 images, 7 graphs, 138 references
Abstract: This paper describes one methodology and a technology designed to overcome a specific deficit in current human-machine interfaces, particularly as they apply to the world of online information exchange but applicable to all human-machine interactions; the determination of human age and gender based entirely on human interaction with the machine.
Overcoming this deficit and related challenges would allow machine systems to determine individuality as a function of several factors. This paper focuses on neurologic age38 and gender.20,60 The technology described in this paper determines these factors by analyzing psychomotor behavioral cues5,22-24,26,40,61,84,88,98,118,137 that have been collectively recognized as indicative of a given user's non-conscious, 1-4,17,59,62,63,73-76,80,94,101,105,110,113, 121,123,125 cognitive, behavioral/effective and motivational processes and methodologies (collectively called "the {C,B/e,M} matrix"39,41-43,45-48,51,55-57,100). The end result of these determinations is that a given individual is a) known and b) demonstrates a {C,B/e,M} state of existence that is itself recognized as in keeping with this known individual's history, regardless of any boundary issues while being able to respond to both in-bounds and out-of-bounds responses to the immediate interaction.
Such machine capabilities are currently in use in web-based systems and are intended for a much more diverse employment.

NSE Evolution Technology Research Paper - Transfer of Domain Knowledge by Replicating Cognitive Styles via Evolution Technology
12 pages, 6 charts, 28 references
Abstract: The purpose of this paper is to demonstrate a method of transferring expertise in a field ("domain knowledge") by training individuals in the cognitive processes of the recognized experts. It is recognized that different learners have different cognitive styles and that these cognitive styles are based on cultural, sociological, linguistic and other factors.6 This paper suggests a method for the transfer of domain knowledge by replicating the cognitive styles of recognized experts in non-experts. The transfer and training mechanism is NextStage Evolution's Evolution Technology (ET). ET is comprised of a series of mathematical tools which have the ability to determine an individual's learning styles, memorization methods, attentiveness, reactions to information, and related education based metrics. ET is a patent pending proprietary technology which does this by monitoring an individual's non-conscious neural activity based on psycho- and cognitive-motor behaviors.1,3,5,7,14,15,20,26 ET can be applied to any human-machine interface. For the purposes of this paper we center our discussion on computerized, web based or stand-alone training and learning modules. In this environment no additional hardware is needed other than the standard computer interface (monitor, keyboard, mouse, etc). ET when applied to web-based technologies requires no cookies nor does it require client-side plug-ins. When applied to stand-alone, non-networked training material, ET exists as a self-contained memory-resident utility (such as a virus checker or reminder alarm).
